Here are a few pictures of the people and equipment that will be drilling and installing soil nails to anchor the retaining wall.
The house at 350 Williams Street in Deadwood, SD, was built in 1879 for Granville Bennett, the first judge in Dakota Territory. Jim Fletcher's family bought it in 1944 and it has been in the family ever since. We are now in the process of restoring it.

Front Steps
The front steps are going to be steep but at least they're "historical." Don't worry! We're going to add a chair lift for those who have trouble with steps.

Retaining Wall Excavation
On Monday, August 29, Corr Construction began removing the retaining wall behind the house and will rebuild the wall from the top down with the terraces as before.

Siding removal
Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission has a program for siding removal. It's exciting to discover what's underneath all those layers!
