The house at 350 Williams Street in Deadwood, SD, was built in 1879 for Granville Bennett, the first judge in Dakota Territory. Jim Fletcher's family bought it in 1944 and it has been in the family ever since. We are now in the process of restoring it.

Excerpt 1 from "Old Deadwood Days" by Estelline Bennett
Page 21--We lived on Williams Street at the head of the Wall Street stairs, in a story-and-a-half frame house with a mansard roof, a square bay window, and a scrap of a porch reached by steps that started for the bay window and then changed their mind and turned and led to the front door. From our steps my little sister and brothers and I, the safe haven of our home behind us, could look down through the narrow slit to Main Street and beyond to the foot of the mountain that stepped into Red Creek.
